Brief Biography-Horace Vernet was the son of Carle Vernet, who was the son of Claude Vernet. Claude was mainly a painter of landscapes and seaports; Carle was a lithographer and painter of daily street scenes and some battle scenes. Horace was primarily known for Napoleonic battle scenes. His major works were in the Palace of Versailles for Louis Philippe. |
