Zacarías González Velázquez

1763-1834 Spain/Baroque-Neoclassicism

 

Brief Biography-Zacarías González Velázquez was a son of Antonio González Velázquez who was the son of Pablo, the sculptor. He studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, and the artist Mariano Salvador Maella hugely influenced him. Zacarías worked in the Tapestry Factory of Santa Bárbara, where his father worked. He became a court painter and was Director-General of the Academia in 1828.
