Henry Scot Tuke

Brief Biography-Henry Scot Tuke was born in York in 1858. He studied at the Slade School of Art and was foremost a figurative painter primarily known for male nude paintings; however, he was also a marine artist. Tuke visited Italy and spent time in Paris, where he associated with John Singer Sargent. He became acquainted with the Newlyn School in Cornwall and settled in Falmouth for the remainder of his life. Tuke exhibited at the Royal Academy, where he was a full member in 1914. |
