János Tornyai

Brief Biography-János Tornyai was born in Hódmezővásárhely in 1869. One of his first teachers was Bertalan Székely and later Mihály Munkácsy at the Académie Julian in Paris. Munkácsy was his primary influence. The Great Hungarian Plain inspired many of his works, which he painted during the latter part of his life. He died in his hometown, where there is now a Tornyai Museum. |
