January Suchodolski

Brief Biography-January Suchodolski was born in Grodno in 1797. He was an officer in the army and painted many battle scenes. Suchodolski studied under Horace Vernet, a painter of Napoleonic battle scenes, for five years in Rome. He became a member of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and Tsar Nicholas 1 hired him to paint military manoeuvres in Saint Petersburg. He died in the village of Bojmie in 1875. |
