Jan Stanisławski

Brief Biography-Jan Stanisławski was born in Olszana, Ukraine, in 1860. He studied art at the Warsaw Drawing School and completed his studies at the Kraków School of Fine Arts. He travelled Europe widely, Italy and Ukraine being his most visited, and stayed in Paris for three years, where impressionism was his primary influence. Stanisławski was a teacher, graphic artist, landscape painter and designer of theatre scenery. He became a professor of landscape painting at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow in 1897 and co-founded several art societies. He died in Kraków in 1907. |
