Samuel Scott
1702-1772 England/Baroque

Brief Biography-Samuel Scott was born in London in 1702. He was a marine and landscape painter in the style of Willem van de Velde. When Canaletto arrived in London, Scot was impressed by his views and emulated his London scenes. He was a friend of William Hogarth and enjoyed a successful career in London before retiring to Bath, where he died in 1772. |
