Ferdynand Ruszczyc

1870-1936 Poland/Symbolism

 

Brief Biography-Ferdynand Ruszczyc was born in Bohdanów near Vilnius in 1870. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg and became a disciple of Ivan Shishkin and Arkhip Kuindzhi. In Berlin, Arnold Böcklin influenced his work. In 1908 he was a professor at Vilnius University and worked on stage design. Ruszczyc is a notable symbolist painter of Poland.
