Jan Rustem

Brief Biography-Jan Rustem was born in what is now Istanbul; as an orphan, he moved to Warsaw, where he studied under Jean-Pierre Norblin de La Gourdaine. He spent a couple of years in Germany before ending up in Vilnius, where he eventually became a professor of painting after Franciszek Smuglewicz at Vilnius University. One of his many notable students was Józef Oleszkiewicz. |
