Henryk Rodakowski

Brief Biography-Henryk Rodakowski, born in Lemberg, studied under Joseph Danhauser and Franz Eybl in Vienna and Léon Cogniet in Paris. In 1852 he succeeded as a portraitist with his painting of General Dembiński. He also painted historical works. He received the Legion of Honour in 1861 and the Belgium Order of Leopold in 1873. Rodakowski settled in Kraków, becoming president of the Academy of Arts in 1893. He died the following year. |
