François Quesnel

Brief Biography-François Quesnel was born into a family of painters at Holyrood, Edinburgh c. 1544. His father, Pierre, was a French artist working for Mary of Guise as the queen’s painter. In Paris, he excelled in portraiture and was patronised by Henry III. Quesnel was also a designer of tapestries; he made one for Marie de Medici and the consecration of Louis XIII. |
