Vieira Portuense

1765-1805 Portugal/Neoclassicism

 

Brief Biography-Francisco Vieira, known as Vieira Portuense, was from Porto, Portugal. He was a neoclassical painter who trained in Lisbon before travelling through Europe. After his return to Portugal, he fell seriously ill and died in Madeira at 39. His works are on view in the National Museum Soares dos Reis, Porto and the National Museum of Ancient Art, Lisbon.
