Andrei Andreyevich Popov

1832-1896 Russia/Realism

 

Brief Biography-Andrei Andreyevich Popov received his first tuition from his father, a painter of religious icons, and He later studied with Maxim Vorobiev at the Saint Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts. Popov exhibited at the Society for the Encouragement of Artists and went on to work at the Imperial Academy. He won the title of Artist and was able to visit Paris to enhance his studies. After visiting Germany and Belgium, Popov returned to Russia in 1867. He settled in his hometown of Nizhny Novgorod and died from lung disease in relative poverty.
