Brief Biography-Rafael Ximeno y Planes was from Valencia and studied at the Real Academia de San Fernando, Madrid. He spent three years in Rome before returning to Valencia, becoming vice director of the Real Academia de San Carlos. In 1793, He went to Mexico and became vice director of the Mexico City School of Fine Arts. He painted religious subjects for churches, portraits, and illustrations for several literary works. He died in Mexico. |
