Pietro Perugino
1450-1523 Italy/Early renaissance

Brief Biography-Pietro Perugino-Pietro di Cristoforo Vannucci, was a pupil of Andrea del Verrocchio alongside Leonardo da Vinci and Lorenzo di Credi. He also took some instruction from Piero della Francesca and later worked from his studios in Perugia and Florence. Pope Sixtus IV commissioned him to work on the frescos in the Sistine Chapel in Rome next to Sandro Botticelli and Domenico Ghirlandaio. A pupil of his was Raphael, who assisted him on the murals in Sala del Cambio in Perugia. Perugino later finished a work by Raphael in Perugia that was left unfinished when he died. Fontignano is where Perugino died of the plague in 1523.
