Luis Alcazár y Paret

Brief Biography-Luis Alcazár y Paret studied in the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando for four years and finished his studies in Rome in 1763. He won first prize at the Academia and received further instruction from the French artist Charles de La Traverse in Madrid.
He was exiled to Puerto Rico in 1775 for a period; why is unknown. When he returned, he got married and settled in Bilbao. The Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando accepted him as a teacher at a relatively young age. He was a painter of many genres in different mediums and received commissions in various subjects, from religious works to view scenes. |
