Périclès Pantazis


Περικλής Πανταζής

1849-1884 Greece-Impressionism

 

Brief Biography-Périclès Pantazis studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Nikiforos Lytras before moving to Munich for one year. Then, in Paris, he studied under Gustave Courbet and from there, he went to Brussels, where he achieved considerable success with the help of the impressionist Guillaume Vogels. During this time, he joined Groups such as Les XX, and in 1878, he exhibited at the International Exhibition of Paris. Sadly, he died at the young age of thirty-four in Brussels, where he gained a reputation for being a notable impressionist of his time.
