Brief Biography-Jacob Ochtervelt from Rotterdam was a student of Nicolaes Pieterszoon Berchem in Haarlem alongside his contemporary Pieter de Hooch. He was a painter of the Dutch Golden Age and took inspiration from Metsu, Terborch and Vermeer. Terborch was his most significant influence, albeit his interior figures have a larger perspective. The Guild of Saint Luke nominated him for The Presidency in 1667. Ochtervelt worked in Rotterdam until 1672 and spent his last years in Amsterdam. |
