Bengt Nordenberg

1822-1902 Sweden/Realism

 

Brief Biography-Bengt Nordenberg was born in Jämshög, Sweden, in 1822. He studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts in Stockholm in 1843 and the Düsseldorf Academy in 1851. His principal tutor was Adolph Tidemand, who profoundly influenced his work. He also studied with Thomas Couture and spent time in Rome before settling in Düsseldorf, where he worked for the rest of his life. Nordenberg won honours in Stockholm, Lyons, the Paris Salon, Vienna, and London.
