Brief Biography-Sir William Newzam Prior Nicholson was a painter of still-life and woodcuts, which led to the advent of the poster. He worked with his brother-in-law James Pryde between 1894 and 1899; the Baggarstaff Brothers was their pseudonym. Nicholson co-founded the National Portrait Society in 1911 and received a knighthood in 1939. Winston Churchill was one of his students. His son Ben became a successful abstract painter. |
