Pieter Neefs the Younger
1620-1675 Belgium/Baroque
|
Brief Biography-Pieter Neefs, the Younger of Antwerp, was the son of Pieter Neefs the Elder, a painter of church interiors. He painted the same subjects in the style of his father. Still, according to the Reverend Pilkington, he was not comparable to him. He injured his reputation by allowing dealers in his pictures to attribute many of his performances to the Old Neefs. Pieter took over his father’s studio when he died and painted a similar amount of works. |
