|
Brief Biography-Frans de Momper of Antwerp is said to be the brother of Jan de Momper, a landscape painter from Antwerp who was successful in Italy. Jan van Goyen and Aert Van der Neer influenced Frans de Momper’s inclination to paint in a brown or monochrome tone. He painted river scenes and shipping towns and became a master in the Guild of Saint Luke. His work took him to The Hague, Haarlem, and Amsterdam, where he married before settling in Antwerp. Examples of his works are in Amsterdam. |
