Benedetto Luti

Brief Biography-Benedetto Luti of Florence received his initial tuition from Anton Domenic Gabbiani, who trained under Vincenzo Dandini. IIn Rome, he entered the Academy of Saint Luke in 1694 and later became Principal. He also worked as a draughtsman and trader in art. Luti gained the patronage of Pope Clement XI and received numerous commissions from notable clerics and nobility. The artist Pietro da Cortona was his primary influence. Giovanni Paolo Panini was one of his many distinguished students. |
