Konrad Krzyzanowski

1872-1922 Ukraine-Poland/Expressionism

 

Brief Biography-Konrad Krzyzanowski was born in Ukraine. He studied drawing in Kyiv and went to the Saint Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts. He was unhappy with the Academy’s teachings and studied in Munich for three years. In 1904, he worked in Warsaw and, after visits to London and Paris, lived in Kyiv, teaching at the School of Fine Arts. Krzyzanowski settled in Warsaw, where he taught in his private school. He was first a portraitist but also worked as an illustrator.
