Oskar Kallis

1892-1918 Estonia/National Romanticism

 

Brief Biography-Oskar Kallis studied under Ants Laikmaa and at the Estonian Artists Society. He was most impressed by romantic nationalism and the works of Akseli Valdemar Gallén-Kallela of Finland. In addition, he painted many scenes from the Legend of Kalevipoeg, the giant.
