Jacomart, Jaime Baço
1411-1461 Spain/Early Renaissance
|
Brief Biography-Jaime Baço or Jacomart was a native of Valencia. He found employment with King Alfonso V of Aragon, who called him to Italy when he besieged Naples and made him a court painter in 1444. Alfonso later brought him to Tivoli when he was fighting in Florence. Flemish art influenced Jacomart’s style the most, and he eventually settled in Valencia. The merchant Joan Spigol engaged him in producing the altarpiece of San Lorenzo and San Pedro Mártir de Catí. His student Joan Rexach assisted him with work and ultimately succeeded Jacomart. |
