Brief Biography-Alfred Hirv was born in Pechory on the Russian border with Estonia, Estonia at one stage and is now Russia. He studied at the St. Petersburg State Academy of Arts and Crafts, named after A. L. Stieglitz under Julius von Klever, the landscape painter. His further studies took him to Rome and Munich. The works of the old Dutch Masters significantly influenced him. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Artists’ Society. |
