Maximilian (Maksymilian) Gierymski

1846-1874 Poland/Watercolours

Brief Biography-Maksymilian Gierymski, the older brother of Ignacy Aleksander Gierymski, was born in Warsaw in 1846. He studied at the Warsaw Drawing School and finished at the Munich Academy of Fine Art. He became a success in Munich; however, he was relatively unknown in Poland. Battle scenes and Polish landscapes were his specialities. He died in Bad Reichenhall, Germany, in 1874.
