Brief Biography-Giovanni Maria Falconetto was born in Verona in 1468. He was first and foremost an architect; however, he was also a dedicated painter and was instructed in art by his father, Jacopo. His brother, Giovanni Antonio, was a successful painter. He spent twelve years in Rome studying the antiquities of the city. However, he devoted his early life more to painting. He executed most of his works in Verona, which were primarily religious themes, painted in the churches of that city. In Mantua, he painted the twelve zodiac signs in the Palazzo d’Arco. His architectural works are mainly prominent in Padua, where he died in 1535. |
