Albert Gustaf Aristides Edelfelt

Brief Biography-Albert Edelfelt was born in Porvoo, Finland. He studied at the Finnish Art Society and the Academy of Art in Helsinki before attending the Antwerp Academy in 1873. He entered the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 1874, where Jean-Léon Gérôme taught him. Bastien-Lepage inspired his landscape scenes in the form of realism. The Paris Salon later exhibited his work, and he was awarded the Grand Prix d’Honneur in 1889. He was Finland’s foremost artist; he painted portraits, landscapes, and religious scenes. |
