Brief Biography-Eugène Gustav Dücker was born in Kuressaare Estonia in 1841. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts for six years in Saint Petersburg. In 1864 he moved to Düsseldorf and remained there for the rest of his life, visiting neighbouring countries on study trips. He entered the Art Academy of Düsseldorf, where he succeeded Oswald Achenbach as Professor of Landscape Painting. His primary romantic subjects were landscapes of the North Sea coast and Northern Germany. |
