Brief Biography-Alexandre Gabriel Decamps from Paris trained in the atelier of Etienne Bouhot and later under Alexandre-Denis Abel de Pujol. He travelled to Asia and undertook Oriental subjects, which gained recognition at a Paris exhibition. He was considered one of the top French artists and won the Grand Council Medal of Honour. Unfortunately, he was slung from his horse while hunting in Fontainebleau and tragically killed. |
