|
Brief Biography-Frank Buchser was from Feldbrunnen, Switzerland. Having completed his studies in Rome, Antwerp, and Paris, he extensively travelled in Europe and Morocco. He was enormously impressed by the works of Gustave Courbet.
In 1866, he went to America for five years, painting genre scenes and, most significantly, portraits of notables such as President Andrew Johnson and Robert E Lee. He exhibited his works in New York before returning to Europe in 1871. |
