Joseph Boze

Brief Biography-Joseph Boze was from Les Martigues, South France. He studied in Marseille and stayed in Arles before going to Paris to work under Maurice Quentin de La Tour. He was a portraitist and miniaturist and painted for the royal court. He was imprisoned as a supporter of Louis XVI but freed after the demise of Maximilien Robespierre. Boze resided in England until the restoration of 1814, when he returned to Paris for the remainder of his life. |
