Lluís Borrassà

c. 1360-1425 Early Renaissance

 

Brief Biography-Lluís Borrassà was one of the earliest international gothic-style painters. He worked out of his large atelier in Barcelona, primarily producing altarpieces for numerous nearby churches. Many of his pieces are extant. For example, his Saint John the Baptist and Saint Barbara, the base of an altarpiece; it is now in the Harvard Art Museums. In addition, the altarpiece of Santa Clara is in the Barcelona Museu Episcopal de Vic.
