Brief Biography-Alexey Petrovich Bogolyubov, whose grandfather Alexander Nikolayevich was a notable philosopher, studied at the Saint Petersburg Imperial Academy of Fine Arts under Maxim Vorobiev until 1853. Alexey was also tutored in Düsseldorf by Andreas Achenbach. Camille Corot and Eugène Isabey, the marine artist, associated with him in Paris. In 1860, He became a professor at the Saint Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts and received many commissions; one task was to illustrate a river guide for the Volga Steamship Company. In 1870, Alexey entered the Peredvizhniki, known as The Wanders or Itinerants Art Movement, which ultimately led him to leave the Academy due to differences in opinions. He spent his later years in Paris, where he received visits from Ilya Repin and many other notable Russian Artists of the time. Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, the seascape artist, strongly influenced Bogolyubov. |
