Norbert van Bloemen

1672-1746 Belgium/Baroque

Brief Biography-Norbert van Bloemen was from Antwerp. His bent name amongst the Bentveughels in Rome was Cefalus. Part of his influence came from his older brother Pieter who tutored him as a boy.
Along with his other brother Jan Frans, all three spent time in Italy. Jan Frans stayed in Italy for the remainder of his life, and Pieter returned to his native Antwerp. Finally, Norbert travelled to Amsterdam, where he settled. He was the least successful of the three brothers; however, his work had substantial merit.
