Johann Jakob Biedermann

1763-1830 Switzerland

 

Brief Biography-Johann Jakob Biedermann was a native of Winterthur in Switzerland. He received his instruction from the Swiss artist Johann Rudolph Schellenberg and later Heinrich Rieter. His first subjects were genre and portraiture and then improving in landscapes. He began his career doing portraits and teaching in Bern. His works eventually were noted for views of Swiss cities and idyllic countryside.
