Alesso Baldovinetti

c. 1425-1499 Italy/Early Renaissance

Brief Biography-Alesso Baldovinetti, the mosaicist from Florence, also worked in stained glass. It was thought he trained in the atelier of Domenico Veneziano, but this is uncertain. Nonetheless, Veneziano and Fra Angelico influenced his work. He worked mainly doing mosaics in religious themes in Florence and was a highly regarded artist of his time. One of his students was Andrea del Verrocchio. His works are in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence and The Louvre, Paris.
