Brief Biography-Edmond Marion Ashe hailed from New York; his paintings are mostly known for images of work scenes. Before moving to Pittsburgh, he was an illustrator and artist-correspondent for various magazines in New York. He was made the head of the Department of Painting and Design at the Carnegie Institute of Technology. He spent a good deal of his life teaching in various art schools. During his time in Pittsburgh, Ashe took great inspiration from factory scenes. |
